2018 April Seminar

TALIM hosted its annual April Seminar this week on the theme, “Documenting the Cultural Heritage of Northern Morocco,” in partnership with the Office Cherifien de Phosphates and the Aga Khan Documentation Center @ MIT. For the first time, we prefaced our seminar with a one-day workshop on April 11 for experts from museums and other cultural entities from Tangier, Tetouan, Ksar Es-Saghrir, Casablanca and even Brussels. Participants shared both their own on-line platforms and projects as well as best practices in cataloging standards and variations. That same evening, guests were invited to Tangier’s Cinémathèque to view short films on cultural heritage themes made by masters degree candidates from the Film Studies Department of Abdelmalek Essaadi University.

The seminar itself on April 12 included panels on three themes:

Collaboration in Documenting Cultural Heritage;
Foregrounding Culture Heritage: Building and Places, and;
Architectural Documentation and Preservation: Tangier/Tetouan.

Our thanks to all who supported, presented at or participated in the seminar and workshop, and to our guests, especially to volunteer interpreters from Tangier’s King Fahd School of Translation.
