Retirement party for Dr. Mary Ellen Lane, Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) founding Director. Friday, May 30th at the Freer. Under Dr. Lane’s leadership, CAORC grew from a group of eight disconnected centers to a federation of twenty-four centers in twenty-six countries linking four continents and became a vanguard for promoting intellectual inquiry through advanced research.
