TALIM – We Are Also a Museum

TALIM Door Sign Enhanced Happy International Museum Day.

TALIM – the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies – used to have museum in its name: TALM – the Tangier American Legation Museum.  Signs on our street reflect that history, and it is true that people from Tangier and tourists visiting the city know us best as a museum.

While our re-branding as an institute – TALIM and our nice logo – continues apace, we also want to vaunt our beautiful historic building and its museum.  Part of this entails showing people what's inside.  I can't tell you how many people have complained of passing right by our door without even realizing that (a) the museum existed or (b) that it was open.  Hence our new sign for the front door.

Our home made sign won't guarantee hordes of visitors, but we hope that it will at least catch a few eyes, highlighting as it does one of our exhibition rooms and a portrayal of the garden courtyard.  It's hard for the passer-by to imagine that such beauty can exist behind our dun-colored walls.

If it looks like a PowerPoint slide, well, that's because it is.  We also operate on a shoestring budget.

  1. Liz, even though individual entry is currently free, I don’t want to set it in stone; we will eventually charge a small entrance fee. And groups already pay a fee.
