Support the Legation’s Women’s Literacy Program for #GivingTuesday

Tuesday, November 30th, is Giving Tuesday, and we are asking for your support of the Legation’s Women’s Literacy Program in order to ensure its continued success and our ability to reach as many women as possible!

The Literacy Program is a grassroots endeavor that has played an important part in solidifying TALIM’s relationship with the community of the Tangier Medina since it was founded in 1999. The program teaches reading and writing in Arabic, but it also teaches important life skills and offers programs for educational and cultural programs for children. The children’s programs are valuable in themselves, but they also facilitate the participation of mothers, grandmothers, or other women who have responsibility for children when the classes are in session.

TALIM is very grateful to the grants and donations that have allowed the program to operate for more than two decades. This fundraising campaign seeks to raise sufficient funds to continue the program well into the future. Costs of the program are modest, approximately $20,000 annually, and all funds raised in this Giving Tuesday campaign will go directly to program costs, including the instructor’s salary, supplies, and textbooks. Please consider a donation.

You can donate online via our Facebook fundraiser or PayPal. Both companies are matching some of the funds raised starting at 8 am on Tuesday, November 30. However, we urge you to donate at your convenience, either via the links above or by sending a check using the information on this page.

Even if you are not able to donate at this time, you can help by spreading the word to your friends and family who may be in a position to do so. Thank you very much for your help!
