The courtyard and terrace approximately 40 years ago
Today was the first full day of events held to mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Tangier American Legation Museum, now the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies (TALIM). The events are being held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the TALIM Board and Fellows. Ordinarily the meetings are held in the US, but this year they are being held in Tangier to mark this milestone anniversary.
Join us tomorrow for TALIM’s 40th Anniversary Conference at Legation. The event will explore various aspects of the history of TALIM both as a diplomatic mission and afterward. The event is free and open to the public. Click here for details on tomorrow’s conference.

Thank you! You were missed. Thanks for the heads up on the book.
Wonderful photographs, showing a beautiful Legation interior and Morocco as colorful as ever. I especially enjoyed the shots of Ksar-es-Seghir (Qsar-es-Seghir, Ksar Sgir) and learning of the American involvement in parts of the restauration. Some of your viewers may be interested to know that the TALIM Research Library owns seven publications by Professor Charles L. Redman, currently of Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability, who worked on excavations at Ksar es-Seghir in the 1970s. His book “Qsar es-Seghir: an archeological view of medieval life” (1986) is especially interesting.
Thank you, Michael, for the photographs, letting distant friends of TALIM to see what we missed.
