March Events at the Legation

Below are the events happening this month at the Legation.  If you are in the area, we hope to see you there.

Monday, March 9, 7 p.m. Movie Night “The Furies,” starring Barbara Stanwyck, Walter Huston.

Thursday, March 12, 4 p.m. “Languages in the Maghrib,” Lecture by American anthropologist and author Dr. Kenneth Brown. In partnership with the Tangier American Language Center.

Thursday, March 19, 4-7 p.m. “By the Work of Her Hands,” an exhibition of the oral histories of American patchwork quilters and Moroccan embroiderers. Opening and reception. In partnership with the U.S. Embassy, Quilters of Color, Grains de Sésame Cooperative, and Philadelphia Fabric Workshop and Museum. This exhibition will continue on Friday, March 20.

Friday, March 20, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Quilting workshop in partnership with Fondation Tanjat El-Medina, literacy classrooms. This workshop, for sewing students from our literacy program, will be translated into Derija. Amateur quilters are welcome to attend.

Saturday, March 21, 10:30 a.m. “The 2016 Presidential Elections in the U.S.” Lecture by historian Dr. Allila Black, George Washington University. In partnership with Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane.

emily-dickinson-poetryWednesday, March 25, 7 p.m. “Emily Dickinson Put to Music.” Musical performance by American singer-songwriter Josephine Foster of the poetry of Emily Dickinson. The performance will include recitation of Emily Dickinson poems in classical Arabic. In partnership with the Tangier American Language Center.

Friday, March 27, 4 p.m. «Conférence sur le Patrimoine », animée par Mme Naoual Zaidi, architecte (en français, en collaboration avec Tanger Accueil).
