Abdelbaar was born and grew up in the countryside of the Taounate Province, he spent the last twenty-some years of his life moving from town to town, moving further away from his hometown with every step forward. He is a PhD candidate in Translation Studies at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan, Morocco, and has been TALIM’s Outreach Coordinator since August 2020.
Abdelbaar is also a certified virtual dialogue facilitator from Soliya. He participated in the Soliya Connect Program in the Spring of 2018 and was subsequently selected to take part in the Soliya Introduction to Facilitation Training. After that, he was selected to participate in the Soliya Public Square facilitation and implementation training, which he finished and co-implemented his project on “Migration within the Mediterranean Vessel” in the Spring of 2019. Abdelbaar subsequently qualified for the Advanced Facilitation Training and has been a volunteer virtual dialogue facilitator with Soliya since then.
Abdelbaar is an alumnus of the Fulbright FLTA program. He spent the academic year (2019-20) as a primary instructor of Arabic at Jackson State University in Mississippi, USA. While pursuing his graduate studies at King Fahd School of Translation, Abdelbaar did an Erasmus+ Global Mobility funded exchange at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), where he attended classes in English Language and Translation Studies during the academic year (2016/17). While a student at the UEF, Abdelbaar was an active member of the local branch of the Europe-wide student organization, Erasmus Student Network (ESN), and was later elected as vice-president of its Spring 2017 board. Abdelbaar holds a Translator Diploma (M.A equivalent) from King Fahd School of Translation in Tangier, and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez. He speaks Arabic, English, and French.
